<h1>About This Project</h1>
<p>The Aryan Recognition Tool consists of:</p>
<ul>
<li>a Python image scraper for collecting images of SS officers, Holocaust architects and perpetrators that are available online</li>
<li>a data set composed of roughly 1000 aryan faces and 1000 non-aryan faces</li>
<li>a service using <a href="https://arsfutura.com/magazine/face-recognition-with-facenet-and-mtcnn/">FaceNet</a> MTCNN’s existing face detection and extraction models to compare a submitted image of a face to those of “aryan” faces</li>
<li>a set of resources to help users understand the conceptualization of Aryan identity and the misuse of face recognition in racial profiling.</li>
</ul>
<p>This tool, and this website is a proof-of-concept developed by an artist, a designer and a developer as a reminder of the ongoing harm of racial profiling, and how it may be perpetuated by face recognition and machine learning.</p>
